Brantridge Boarding School aka Ditton Place
Robin Carter of Westmeston, in his 70s, was convicted in April 2017 of ten charges of indecent assault on boys aged 10 to 12. The reported incidents occurred over a ten-year period in the 1990s. He was convicted and sentenced to 9 years in prison on three charges of indecent assault. Carter was handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which restricts his access to children and keeps him on the sex offenders list for the rest of his life.
He worked at a boarding school as a residential child care officer. Ditton Place was part of the broader Brantridge School, which specialised in the care and education of children with social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
Carter’s investigation began in 2014, when an ex-pupil who attended the school in the 1990s came out as a witness to his inappropriate behaviour with vulnerable boys at the institution.
