Christ’s Hospital School, West Sussex
Four male teachers from Christ’s Hospital Boarding School in West Sussex faced charges over a range of sexual offences carried out during their employment at the school in the late 80s and early 90s.
Christ’s Hospital School Teachers Arrested
Three of the 4 former teachers at Christ’s Hospital School were arrested in November of 2016. Police travelled to Shropshire, Yorkshire and London to arrest 3 men over various alleged sexual offences against students who had been in their care. The offences ranged from rape to indecent assault against both male and female students. A 4th was then remanded over counts of indecent assault against 4 different male ex-students.
Various Sexual Offences
All the men involved were in their 60s and 70s and taught at the boarding school in Horsham in the 1980s and 1990s. The alleged abuse took place over a 16 year period between 1980 and 1996.
Ajaz Karim was charged with nine counts of indecent assault and one attempted indecent assault on a female. He is now 62.
Gary Dobbie has been charged with 10 counts of indecent assault on both males and females, as well as 1 count of attempted indecent assault. He is now 66.
James Husband has been charged with 4 counts of rape and 5 counts of indecent assault against a female. He is now 67.
Peter Webb has been charged with 6 counts of indecent assault against a male. He is now 74.
All the men were subsequently found guilty of various charges.
Safeguarding At Christ’s Hospital Boarding School
The school have responded to the charges brought against past educators of the establishment.
