Kinton Community Home with Education (The Oaks Centre Children’s Home)

Kinton Community Home with Education (Kinton CHE) was also known as the Oaks Centre Children’s Home.  Based in Mayford Green in Woking, The local authority who ran the home was Surrey County Council.  Closed in the early 1990s the venue was split into ‘houses’ but with communal areas i.e. main hall, farm etc.  It was a boys only establishment.

Care worker Keith Hammerton, was jailed for six years in 2006 when he was found guilty of sexually abusing boys in his care in the 1970s.
